SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate)
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) – High-Foam Surfactant for Cleansing & Personal Care
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, commonly abbreviated as SLS, is an anionic surfactant with the INCI name Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and CAS number 151-21-3. It is one of the most extensively used cleansing and foaming agents in the global personal care and cosmetics industry. SLS functions by reducing the surface tension of water, enabling it to emulsify oils, remove sebum, and lift dirt and product residue from both skin and hair. It is the cornerstone surfactant in shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, bubble baths, and syndet bars. Its ability to produce dense, stable, high-volume lather makes it highly valued in professional formulation. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is water-soluble, cost-effective, and works well when combined with milder co-surfactants such as Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Sodium Laureth Sulfate to improve skin tolerance in finished formulas. It is synthetic in origin, derived from lauryl alcohol processed from coconut or palm kernel oil. Rabibazaar supplies cosmetic-grade Sodium Lauryl Sulfate to DIY formulators, shampoo manufacturers, soap makers, and personal care brands across Pakistan.
